During NVIDIA's CES 2025 keynote, fans of the Virtua Fighter series were treated to an exciting glimpse into the future of the franchise. A pre-development video for the new Virtua Fighter project, created by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, showcased stunning visuals and fluid animations that hint at a promising direction for the beloved fighting game series.
A Proof-of-Concept Teaser
The video, which can be viewed here, features two versions of Akira, the series' iconic protagonist, battling in a visually rich town environment with an Asian architectural flair. While still early in development, the impressive graphics and detailed animations are a testament to the studio’s ambition.
The Virtua Fighter project was first announced during The Game Awards 2024, alongside another title, Project Century, which appears to align more closely with the Like a Dragon series. Unfortunately, no official release dates or further details have been shared for either project, indicating that fans may need to wait a while for substantial updates.
Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O Incoming
For those eager to dive back into the series, there’s good news. Later this month, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O will launch on PC. This enhanced version of the fifth entry in the franchise will feature:
Rollback netcode support for smoother online play.
4K resolution visuals for a sharper experience.
